5 quick and easy dipping sauces

Dips selber machen

When it comes to barbecues, picnics or dinners with friends, delicious dips and sauces are a must for your foodie get-together. Try these easy and unique dips and sauces made out of healthy ingredients!

Mint cucumber dip

Stir together 250 g yoghurt, ½ grated cucumber, 1 finely chopped clove of garlic and 1 bunch of chopped mint. Season with salt, pepper and lime juice.

Spicy pepper and tomato sauce

Cut 2 red peppers and 4 tomatoes into small chunks. Add 1 bunch of chopped spring onions and 1 chopped chilli. Puree with 5 tablespoons of tomato paste. Stir in some chopped basil leaves and 2 tablespoons olive oil. Season to taste with salt and cayenne pepper.

Curry mango dip

Peel 1 mango and remove stone. Put mango into a blender with 1 cup sour cream, 1 teaspoon mustard and 1 teaspoon curry powder. Blend until smooth and add salt and lemon juice to taste.

Pumpkin ketchup

Boil 1 kg of diced hokkaido squash in salted water for about 20 minutes. Pour off water and puree the squash in a pot. Add 500 ml orange juice and 150 ml white balsam vinegar. Season with 1 teaspoon salt, 2 teaspoons sambal oelek, 1 teaspoon curry powder and a pinch of sugar. Boil the mixture until it thickens and add salt and pepper to taste. Fill the ketchup into jars when still hot and seal the jars.

Pineapple and banana sauce

Brush 2 pineapple slices and the flat side of 1 banana with olive oil. Grill in a pan for 6 minutes. Coarsley chop pineapple slices and combine in a blender with banana, 1 chopped red onion, chopped cilantro, some lime juice and 1 chopped chili. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve those fruity dips and sauces with meat, cheese or vegetable sticks – they fit for every occasion and taste!
